Bay Park's development dates to 1936, when the City Council approved the Bay Park Village Subdivision immediately south of the older 1887 Morena Subdivision, with 60-by-100-foot and larger lots set aside for single-family homes. Bay Park Elementary School followed in 1939 at 2433 Denver Street and has anchored the neighborhood for more than 85 years.
